Photovoltaic Plant Sol del Desierto

Prodiel executed the Sol del Desierto photovoltaic park under the EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) modality. The plant, with an installed capacity of 244 MW, is located in the Antofagasta region, in the heart of the Atacama Desert.

The scope of the contract included, in addition to the construction of the wind farm, a 220/33 kV booster substation, an extension of the 220 kV Switching Substation and a 1.7 km long high-voltage line.

Sol del Desierto consists of more than 580,000 photovoltaic modules spread over an area of 445 hectares. It produces 724 gigawatts of energy per hour per year, which is equivalent to the energy consumption of more than 228,000 Chilean households. With the implementation of this project, the emission of 120,000 tonnes of CO2 per year will be avoided.
